Stopover in Sta. Cruz, Laguna: Asian Traveller's Inn Resto

Everytime we go to Pangil, Laguna for a short break and pass by Laguna's capital, Sta. Cruz at almost lunch or dinner time we usually buy some food to-go or we just dine-in at the Traveller's Inn restaurant. The Inn is located in Barangay Pagsawitan where the public buses usually drop off passengers bound for Sta. Cruz.

The place is a favorite among the locals since the prices are quite reasonable and the place can easily be reached. It serves basically Chinese and Filipino dishes.

The last time we went there was last Maundy Thursday and the place was almost full, aside from those waiting for take-outs. I guess one reason for it being full is people doing the Visita Iglesia drop by to have their lunch.

Very hungry from our travel which took us from Paranaque to Kawit, Cavite passing by Cavitex, Alabang-Zapote Road and SLEX,before finally reaching Sta. Cruz, Laguna, we immediately ordered our lunch. We ordered miki-bihon, buttered chicken and litson kawali, rice and 1.5 liter soda. After about 20 minutes wait, our order finally arrived.

The first to arrive was pancit miki-bihon special (P75). The noodles look more like bihon-canton. The pancit we usually  ordered at the office during occasions tastes better. However, it's got lots of toppings including shrimp, liver, pork, squid and veggies. And for the price, I can't complain.
The buttered chicken (P160) was yummy. The skin was crispy and the meat tender. Although, I noticed that the butter tasted like Star Margarine. The margarine gave it the unique taste.
The lechon kawali (P120) looked different from the last time we ate there. Instead of salt, the pork was marinated in soy sauce which made the pork not as crispy. Being tired and hungry, we did not asked for a change of order. It did taste good, although not the one we expected.
The total bill was about P460 which included 4 cups of rice and the soda.

If you happen to arrive in Sta. Cruz, Laguna at meal time, I would suggest you have your lunch there before proceeding to your final destination. There are a number of fast food restaurants near the church inside the town, like Chowking, Mcdonald's, Jollibee and Greenwich Pizza but you still need to take another jeep going there or face the traffic and parking problems if you bring your own vehicle.
