Angel's Violin Recital 2011

Angel had her last violin recital for this semester yesterday at the St. Scholastica's College of Manila - School of Music, in their newly built SOM Building. I think this was the biggest one we have attended as there were more than 20 students who played individually. There were also group performances according to their level. I am not sure but I think its beginner, intermediate, advance, etc.

Angel started her formal violin lessons last year when she was in Grade 3. She already had a violin when she was still in Kindergarten but we had a hard time finding someone to teach her. We did find someone from the ads but that didn't work well.
Fortunately, we discovered that her school was offering such lessons and decided to enroll her last year. They also accept non-Scholastican students, which maybe one of the reasons why they have a lot of male students.

Individual lessons of 1 hour are conducted once a week, usually on Saturdays and also after school hours, while group lessons (also 1 hour) is held once a week on Saturdays. Luckily, my daughter got a good time slot this semester: individual lessons - 10 - 11 AM and group lessons - 11 AM to 12 noon, which means that I don't have to wait longer than necessary. The only problem I have is the parking since most of the parking outside the school is occupied by students from the nearby CSB and parking inside the campus is scarce.

For this recital, Angel played two pieces: Long, Long Ago and Allegro, both from Suzuki Book Volume No.1 and for their group recital they played Minuet 2.
They will be having their culminating activity for the semester next month. Till then.

aww! when I was young I wanted to play violin, pero I ended up with paino lessons that I didnt continue. Your little girl is so blessed,I used to hear my uncle play the violin, and it's always pleasant to the ear.

Congrats, Angel!! Great work! While you've mastered minuet 2, I'm still stuck to 'twinkle, twinkle'. *sigh*

Show us your talent again, this December. See you!
